FALCKE, FRIEDA EMILY, 104, of Allendale died peacefully at her home on Wednesday, December 8th, 2021, surrounded by her daughters and caregiver. Frieda was born on September 19, 1917, in Ozone Park, NY, grew up in Brooklyn, and lived in Allendale, NJ, for 77 years. In her younger years, she worked in NYC as a sales assistant and later was Deputy Tax Collector for the Borough of Allendale. Throughout her years as a devoted and much-loved wife and mother, she volunteered many hours at Bergen Pines and Valley Hospital. She was a beloved and active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Saddle River, NJ, since 1948, when she married H. Charles Falcke. She enjoyed music, especially opera, and loved playing the piano. She and her husband loved to entertain in their home and she was a wonderful cook. Frieda enjoyed traveling and had a zest for life. She claimed her secret to a long life was a scotch a day and her deep faith in God. Frieda was generous and kind in all ways. She met the challenges throughout her life of 104 years with tremendous strength and grace.
She was predeceased by her husband, Charlie; her sister, Martha Scherer; her nephew Chris Scherer and his wife, Joan Scherer, and many dear friends. Frieda is survived by her daughters, Karen Smith, son-in-law George Smith of Estero, FL, and Sandra Parra, son-in-law Angelo Parra of DeLand, FL. Also, step-grandchildren, Maryellen Rousseau and Chris Smith, and step-great-grandchildren, Bethany and Jade Rousseau.
