PASTRAS, JAMES P., 85, of Paterson New Jersey died peacefully on Monday, April 17, 2023. James better known as Jimmy was born in Zakynthos, Greece in 1938 and came to the US in 1954 at 14 years old due to a devastating earthquake on the island. Jimmy worked hard to secure his future in New Jersey, working with relatives and family friends in liquor stores and local diners. He became a business owner when he opened Jimmy‘s Luncheonette on Washington Street in Paterson. Jimmy was a well-known and loved character in Paterson and ran the diner for more than 30 years keeping the locals fed and entertained. Jimmy is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years Gloria, (née Rodriguez) his three sons, William, James, and Peter, two grandchildren Jace and Ellie, and daughter-in-law Joe. Loving family, Barbara R., and Barbara S, along with nephews and Nieces, Pete, Dennis, Maria, and Angie, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law‘s. Jimmy will be remembered for his love of pets, his filterless sense of humor, and his generosity.
Friends and family will be received on Friday, April 21st from 10:00 am -12:00 pm at Manke Memorial @ Scillieri-Arnold Funeral Home, 351 Fifth Avenue, Paterson. Entombment will follow at 12:30 PM at Laurel Grove Cemetery, Totowa.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations in Jimmy‘s name to Eva‘s Kitchen in Paterson or a local animal shelter.
