GILMAN, NORMAN, 85, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 6th, 2023. Norman was born on February 4, 1938, in Riverdale, New York, to his mother, Lillian Gilman, and his father Sol Gilman. Norman was a beloved son, an older brother, a devoted father, an amazing grandfather (Poppy and Nono), and a wonderful friend to all those he encountered throughout his life. Norman graduated from Barnard School for Boys in Riverdale, New York, and got his bachelor’s degree from New York University in Business Administration Management. After graduating college, Norman worked for a record company, and in 1960 he became the president of Gilman Enterprises INC. He was president for 52 years, and he frequented Europe for his textile business. Norman was an avid golfer and relished in the sport every chance he had. In 2012, Norman retired and moved to Florida. For the last five years, his daughters and grandchildren were able to spend quality time with him. Whether it was burning to a crisp on Siesta Key Beach, paddle boarding like a champ, smoking cigars, eating the best steak at Capital Grille, or drinking one too many Bloody Marys, he spent his final years with the ones who loved him most.
Norman is survived by his two daughters, Sheryl, her husband Jeff Isaac, and Debbie, and her husband Brian Heytink. His grandchildren, Nicole, Jared, Stephanie, Brittany, Taylor, Liza, and Emma. His stepchildren, Carrie and Adam and their families; Lisa, Eric, Matt, Alex, Zack, Lily, and Charlotte.
You’ll be forever loved and missed, Gillyfish 20.
