LEON, SIXTA ALIDA, 88, of Pompton Lakes formerly of Newark died peacefully on Tuesday, November 29, 2022. Beloved wife of 65 years to the late Genero (2019). Loving mother of Magda Karateew and Niurka Perinotti. Devoted sister of Jose Pereda. Cherished grandmother of Melissa, Erika, Justin, Eric, Cassi, and Nina. Adored great-grandmother of Eva, Julian, Izzy, Adrianna, Ruby, Liam, and Kelly.
Born in Bauta, Cuba, Sixta’s righteous actions brought her family to the United States in 1968. Before retiring, Sixta worked as a welder for Newark Wire & Cloth, Newark. She lived out her life by spending time with her family, cooking black beans, and shopping. Sixta was a hardworking and caring woman who believed in prayer. Her family agrees that she was the glue that held the family together in both good and difficult times. Sixta preached that family comes first and to take care of one another. She will be missed and never forgotten as her presence will remain in the hearts of many.
Cremation was private.
