DAVE, VINODBHAI, 85, of Denville died on Saturday, June 8, 2019.
Vinodbhai was born in 1933 in Baroda to father Nandshankar Dave and mother Taralaxmi Dave. He grew up in Nadiad as the second eldest of five siblings. He was fond of singing bhajans and showed off his strength as a wrestler. At an early age, Vinodbhai learned the importance of family values and honesty. He carried these values forward on April 21, 1958 when he married his lifelong partner, Bhadraben Desai, and went on to raise two sons, Amit and Ashesh.

Vinodbhai was, above all, a father and caretaker. A father to his son and a caretaker to all those who looked to him for advice and guidance. At 52, Vinodbhai courageously moved to the United States with Bhadraben and Ashesh despite no prospect for a job. However, he did have a plan for the future – making sure he established a legacy for his son and daughter-in-law, Gopa, and their children for many years to come. Vinodbhai overcame hardship and challenges to earn his way through a variety of jobs before finally finding familiarity in the pharmaceutical industry and securing stability for the people he cared about most.

As he grew older, it was apparent Vinodbhai very much lived up to the meaning of his name: joy and happiness, traits he imparted on everyone he met with his charismatic personality and positive attitude. Always smiling and with a perpetually kind heart, his positive mood was infectious. Throughout his life, Vinodbhai never hesitated to help others and constantly used his mental fortitude and unbiased decision making to address the issues of both his own family and the families that viewed him as a father figure. He has touched many lives – of family members, friends and even strangers. He was a self-driven philanthropist and would frequently deliver food and medications to those in need.

Years later, in a new house in Bloomingdale while living with his son, he helped raise three grandchildren, Yatee, Neenad and Neil. Having a background as a mathematics teacher, he was like a third parent – although he also made sure to spoil his grandchildren as much as possible. After 61 years of happy marriage, Vinodbhai passed away peacefully on Saturday June 8, 2019. This loving husband, father and grandfather may no longer physically be with us in this world, but he will always be in our thoughts, prayers and watching over us to help overcome all obstacles in our lives.
